Old Town Hall of Regensburg

The Old Town Hall in the middle of Regensburg city offers a good starting point for your exploration of the town. Firstly, the historic building is beautiful to look at. Secondly, you will also find here the tourist office where you can get many interesting tips. The Empire Room of the Old Town Hall dates from the 13th century and was the seat of the Everlasting Imperial Diet of the Holy Roman Empire from 1663 to 1806. Since 1963, it also hosts the Reichstag Museum, which houses a permanent exhibition of the origin and history of the Holy Roman Empire of German Nations.

Salzstadel

Salt was a valuable and rare commodity. Trade blossomed and therefore, promised large profits when Regensburg again gained control of it in 1614. However, the project was greatly hampered by the direct competition Stadtamhofs which lay on the opposite bank of the Danube. During this time, the now well-known salt store was built. Originally built for the storage of salt, it now serves as a convention and exhibition building in the city of Regensburg. Since May 2011, you can experience the history of the city in the visitor center "World Heritage".

Thurn und Taxis Palace

The Benedictine monastery of St. Emmeram was founded in 739 in Regensburg. In its eventful history, it had to be rebuilt several times and repeatedly changed hands. Since 1820, it is one of the estates of the princely family of Thurn and Taxis. They extended the complex to a princely residence in the following years from. Today, St. Emmeram serves as a home and administration for the family and at the same time it houses a museum. Both, the royal treasury and the Marstallmuseum, can be visited all year round. A tour through the castle and cloister St. Emmeram is only in the context of a guided tour possible.
